2023 Art in Ink Festival

16–31.12.2023
Palace Academy, Hong Kong Palace Museum

Art in Ink Festival is jointly presented by the UOB Art Academy and the Hong Kong Palace Museum, and supported by UOB. The Festival takes place at the Palace Academy located on the Lower Ground level (LG) of the Hong Kong Palace Museum from 16 to 31 December 2023, underlining the dynamism and breadth of Chinese ink art. It serves as a platform to nurture local artistic talents and inspire the study and appreciation of Chinese art and culture, enabling visitors to reinterpret the beauty of contemporary Chinese ink art.

The Festival features a series of diverse programmes. The winning artworks of the 2023 UOB Art in Ink Awards Winners’ Showcase will be presented at the Palace Academy along with the augmented reality (AR)-enabled interactive ink art experience. Visitors can enjoy the InkFlow Theatre Immersive Animated Ink Screening at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Auditorium to experience the exciting visual experience brought by ink art. The limited edition of the InkSpectacle Pop-up Music Performance will bring visitors a refreshing audio-visual ink art journey.

Indulge yourself into the InkFinity Encounter Interactive Ink Experience Zone at the Magnus Hall with the new media interactive art installation The Book of Drops by Hong Kong media artist, Chris Cheung (h0mh1m). Visitors can experience Chinese ink art from various perspectives and understand the connection between Chinese ink and our daily lives through art tech.

The Festival also offers art talks, art in ink workshops and artist studio visits, which can be accessed with online or onsite registration. A total of 30 art in ink workshops will be led by distinguished Hong Kong artists including Dr Chui Pui-Chee, Rebecca Hon, Christine Lee, Lee Yee Mei, Tony Ng, Gessena Wong, Yau Wing Fung and Simon Yung.

All activities are free of charge. Please visit www.ArtInInkFestival.com.hk and join us to participate in this celebration of Chinese ink art.
