Mr Andy Hei Kao-chiang

The well-known antique dealer Hei Hung-lu moved from Beijing to Hong Kong in the mid-twentieth century and established his firm in Tsim Sha Tsui, specialising in Ming and Qing furniture and scholar's objects.

In addition to inheriting the expertise in Chinese art from his father, Mr Andy Hei Kao-chiang, an expert himself, is committed to promoting the development of the antique industry as well as artistic and cultural initiatives in Hong Kong. Currently, Mr Andy Hei Kao-chiang serves as a member of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority Board and the Hong Kong Palace Museum Board as well as the Museum's Acquisitions Committee. He is also the founder of the art fairs “Fine Art Asia” and “Ink Asia”.

To celebrate the establishment of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, Mr Andy Hei Kao-chiang, on behalf of his parents, Hei Hung-lu and Chang Ping-wen, made a special donation of two pieces of Ming dynasty furniture and a pair of Song dynasty stone rams.

Mr Warren Cheng Wei-yang

Mr Warren Cheng Wei-yang comes from a family of experts in Chinese art, especially early Chinese ceramics, bronzes, and Buddhist art.

Mr Cheng has devoted himself to developing a shared appreciation for early Chinese art in Hong Kong as well as to strengthening the network of Hong Kong’s antique industry. He currently serves as the chairperson of the Hong Kong Antique and Art Galleries Association and Director of the art fairs, including Fine Art Asia and Ink Asia. In recent years, he has actively promoted the integration of technology and art, using 3D printing, video games, and artificial intelligence to popularize traditional arts and culture among the young generation.

To celebrate the establishment of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, Mr Warren Cheng Wei-yang made a special donation of 100 early ceramics.

Dr Shengyu Wang

Associate Curator

Shengyu Wang received her DPhil in Archaeology from the University of Oxford and completed her undergraduate studies at the School of Archaeology and Museology, Peking University. Prior to her current appointment as a curator at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, she was involved in exhibitions and catalogue projects at the Shanghai Museum and the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. She has participated in archaeological excavations in both China and the UK. At the Hong Kong Palace Museum, she made curatorial contributions to the opening exhibition “Grand Gallop: Art and Culture of the Horse”. She is also a lead co-curator of various special exhibitions, including “Gazing at Sanxingdui: New Archaeological Discoveries in Sichuan” in September 2023, and Bank of China (Hong Kong) Presents: “The Origins of Chinese Civilisation”, which is on view from September 2024.
