The Hong Kong Palace Museum donors Ms Nancy Chang Lee and Ms Carrie Li Kai will share their passion for collecting and decades of experience with some of the most influential art institutions in Hong Kong and abroad. Moderated by the HKPM Associate Curator Dr Ingrid Yeung, this conversation will shed light on the bronze ritual vessels and cloisonné work that they have generously gifted to the HKPM, and the collection stories behind them. They will also explore broader issues related to collecting, from how to develop a connoisseur’s “eye” to what private collection can do for the public good.
This talk accompanies the thematic exhibition “Passion for Collecting: Founding Donations to the Hong Kong Palace Museum” on view in Gallery 6 until 18 August 2025.
“The Hong Kong Palace Museum Collections and Collectors Talk Series” aims to shed new light on the art collecting and creative journeys of the HKPM donors, inviting audiences to appreciate the aesthetic, historical, and cultural significance of the many outstanding works donated to the HKPM. The talk series will also highlight the rich art collecting cultural traditions of Hong Kong and its unique position as a centre for Chinese art collecting and research.
