HKPM Movies: Fall in Love with Masterpieces—Tintoretto: A Rebel in Venice

19.01.2024 – 06.04.2024
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Auditorium, Hong Kong Palace Museum

Tintoretto: A Rebel in Venice

Tintoretto: A Rebel in Venice celebrates the 500th anniversary of the birth of the last great artist of the Italian Renaissance. This documentary tells the story of the rivalry among the most important Venetian artists of the 16th century: Tintoretto, Titian, and Veronese in Venice. It explores Venice through Tintoretto’s life and canvases, and shed light on the profound impact of the plague in 1576, which left a lasting mark on the city and the Venetian art. With stunning visuals, this art film showcases Tintoretto as an exceptional embodiment of Venice. A one-of-a-kind genius, open-minded, restless, brave and with a strong love for freedom, unpredictable and enigmatic, he truly mirrored the essence of the lagoon city.
