The Hong Kong Jockey Club Auditorium, Hong Kong Palace Museum

Secret Impressionists

Secret Impressionists tells the story of the art revolution that defined the impressionist movement, through an exploration of 50 legendary paintings, previously inaccessible to the general public, which were exhibited at Rome’s Palazzo Bonaparte in 2019. How did the impressionists view the world? How were their works received? How did they go from being rejected by critics and the public to becoming, in just a few short years, some of the best loved works of art in the world? Featuring the insights of the Rome exhibition’s head curators, along with compelling analyses made by experts, historians and artists, Secret Impressionists illuminates the impressionist movement and uncovers hidden gems created by the likes of Monet, Degas, Renoir, Manet, Cézanne, and other extraordinary artists whose legacies continue to thrive long after their passing.
