Three HKPM donors Professor Raymond Fung Wing Kee, Mr Wu, Chie Hong, Mr Frederick H M Lam, along with the distinguished Chinese painting and calligraphy scholar Mr Yuen-kit Szeto and the HKPM Curator of Painting and Calligraphy Dr Zhu Wangzhang will share their insights into and unique perspectives on art production, collecting, and research in the field of Chinese painting and calligraphy. Main topics to be explored are key collections of the twentieth-century painting and the calligraphy relationship between art creation, collecting, and research, and the fascinating stories behind the spectacular works three donors generously donated to the HKPM.
This talk accompanies the thematic exhibition “Passion for Collecting: Founding Donations to the Hong Kong Palace Museum” on view in Gallery 6 until 18 August 2025.
“The Hong Kong Palace Museum Collections and Collectors Talk Series” is designed to illuminate the fascinating stories behind the acts of collecting and creative journeys of the donors. Through engaging conversations between our HKPM experts and the donors, these talks will provide insight into the aesthetic, historical and cultural significance of the treasures within the collection.
