Dr Louis Ng

Director of the Hong Kong Palace Museum

Dr Louis Ng was appointed the first Director of Hong Kong Palace Museum in August 2019, leading the construction of the new museum for its official opening on 3 July 2022. He is a seasoned museum professional, arts administrator and historian with over 33 years of experience in arts administration and museum management.  Previously he was involved in the planning of many new museum projects in Hong Kong including Hong Kong Coastal Defence Museum, Hong Kong Museum of History, Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre and Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum. Prior to joining the Hong Kong Palace Museum, he was Deputy Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Hong Kong SAR Government, overseeing the operations and programmes of public museums, performing arts venues and public libraries.  A historian by training, he earned his PhD from Chinese University of Hong Kong. 

Mr Rocco Yim

Principal of the Rocco Design Architect Associates

Rocco Yim founded his own practice in 1979, and was one of the co-founders of Rocco Design Partners in 1982.The firm has received many local and international awards and citations for design excellence since its inception and has won its first international competition in 1983. Under his stewardship in design, the firm has grown significantly over the years both in size and reputation. Rocco has been actively involved in dialogues with the cultural and architectural communities both local and overseas. His emphasis on design excellence and social responsibility has become very much the firm’s aspiration for the future. Rocco Yim is at present Principal of Rocco Design Architects Associates Ltd.

Mr Freddie Hai

Director of the Rocco Design Architect Associates

Freddie Hai graduated from the University College London and is professionally qualified in both Hong Kong and the UK. He returned to the company in 2007 and became a Director in 2018. He has since been Project Team Leader for a number of high profile projects, such as the Hong Kong Palace Museum, Kerry Hotel Hong Kong, and China Unicom (HK) Global Center. His past experience includes No.1 Peking Road, the IFC, and several stations along the West Rail. He is also active in the local architectural and institute matters and has been appointed for several committee posts by the government.
