Dr Chui Pui Chee, apprenticed to Mr Jat See-yeu and Professor Wang Dongling, obtained his undergraduate degree from the Department of Fine Arts, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and master’s and doctoral degrees from the Department of Chinese Calligraphy, China Academy of Art (CAA).
Dr Chui served in different tertiary institutions, including the School of Continuing and Professional Studies of the CUHK, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the CUHK, and Hong Kong Baptist University. He also worked at the Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy Department of China Guardian (HK) Auctions Co., Ltd. He is currently an executive member of the Jiazi Society of Calligraphy and Research Fellow at the Modern Calligraphy Research Center, CAA.
Dr Chui received the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Awards—Young Artist Award in 2012 and Hong Kong Arts Development Awards 2015—Award for Young Artist (Visual Arts). He was a finalist of the Sovereign Asian Art Prize in 2015, 2018, and 2020. His artworks are collected by the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology of the University of Oxford, and private collectors. His recent exhibitions include “Classics Remix”, “Dawn Chorus, Happen with HART”, “The 2020 Sovereign Asian Art Prize: Shortlisted Finalists Exhibition”, “New Rhythm of Line”, “City Rhymes” and “Nine Abysses”.
