Olivia Wang

Director

Olivia is an independent art curator, consultant, and writer with over twelve years of industry experience. Her writing on contemporary Chinese ink art has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, ArtAsiaPacific, Orientations, and Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art, among others. She is the Representative of the Ink Society Hong Kong and also serves on the panel of judges for the UOB Art in Ink Award. Unsung Heroes of Ink is her debut documentary, which she directed and produced. Olivia holds a BA from Brown University and MPhil from the University of Oxford.

Dr Sarah Ng

Curator of the University Museum and Art Gallery
of the University of Hong Kong

Dr Sarah Ng is currently a curator of the University Museum and Art Gallery of the University of Hong Kong. She was a research assistant professor at the Academy of Visual Arts of the Hong Kong Baptist University. She received her DPhil in Chinese Art History (Ming Dynasty Calligraphy and Rubbings) at the University of Oxford and MPhil in History of Chinese Art (Qing Imperial Paintings) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her interest is in the relationship and reinterpretation of the Chinese tradition in contemporary art practices. Her work also addresses collecting, connoisseurship, canon formation, art conservation, museum studies, and bookplates. She lectures on these subjects and other areas of expertise.

Li An Tan

Assistant Curator of the Hong Kong Palace Museum

Ms Li An Tan earned her M.A. degree in History of Art and Archaeology from SOAS, University of London, concentrating on the relationship between Chinese vernacular painting and Qing court production from the seventeenth to the eighteenth centuries. At the Hong Kong Palace Museum, Ms Tan has co-curated the opening exhibition “Encountering the Majestic: Portraits of Qing Emperors and Empresses” and made curatorial contributions to two other exhibitions, “From Dawn to Dusk: Life in the Forbidden City” and “The Making of Masterpieces: Chinese Painting and Calligraphy from the Palace Museum”. She has previously worked at the Bonhams, where she was responsible for over ten Chinese painting auctions, and the Asian Civilisations Museum in Singapore, where she contributed to the research, exhibition, and publication projects on the arts of Myanmar and the early maritime trade in Asia. Her other research interests include the visual culture of late dynastic China, Islamic art, and the Silk Road.
