The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) announced today that it has received 500,000 visitors since its opening on 3 July this year. To celebrate this important milestone, Dr Louis Ng, Director of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, welcomed the 500,000th visitor at the Museum’s entrance and presented her with a free one-year HKPM Friends Membership, a commemorative NFT (non-fungible token) of a specially designed ticket, and other souvenirs.

Opened to the public since 3 July 2022, the HKPM has received overwhelming support amid the pandemic and social distancing measures, and is thrilled to record more than 500,000 visitors in less than four months. To commemorate the opening of HKPM for 100 days and in an effort to promote the appreciation of Chinese culture through innovative technologies, the HKPM will give away a total of 1,000 Commemorative NFTs to visitors, which are based on the images of specially designed tickets, each in a unique colour scheme.

Buyers of any admission tickets who purchased via the West Kowloon Cultural District’s (WKCD) ticketing platforms (i.e. HKPM website, WKCD website, WKCD mobile app and Cityline website) for admission to HKPM from 2 July to 25 October 2022 are invited to register for the Commemorative NFT. Registration period will be from 15 November 2022 at 10:00 (Hong Kong Time) to 20 November 2022 at 23:59 (Hong Kong Time). The first 1,000 eligible registrations with the required information provided will receive the NFT on a first come, first served basis. Awardees will be contacted via email. More information with terms and conditions will be available on HKPM’s website: https://www.hkpm.org.hk/en/nft-registration.

Museum Director Dr Louis Ng said, “We’re thrilled to celebrate the milestone of receiving 500,000 visitors within four months after the museum’s opening. The remarkable number of visitors and their length of stay in the museum demonstrate the community’s passion and support for the Palace Museum culture. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the community and will continue to present innovative, multi-faceted, and high-quality exhibitions. We look forward to welcoming tourists from Mainland China and the rest of the world to the Museum, promoting to them the splendour of Chinese culture and fostering cultural exchange among world civilisations.”

All categories of admission tickets to HKPM for the month of November 2022, including those for the first major special exhibition after its opening exhibitions, “Odysseys of Art: Masterpieces Collected by the Princes of Liechtenstein”, are now on sale. Members of the public can purchase tickets through the HKPM website, WKCD website, WKCD mobile app, and online ticketing platform Cityline. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased through the online platforms of the Museum’s ticketing partners, namely Klook, China Travel Service (Hong Kong) Limited, and Fliggy. Admission tickets for the last few days of October are also available for purchase on the above platforms.

The HKPM would also like to thank the sponsors of the Commemorative NFT, Animoca Brands and its invested company NFT First Social Wallet DTTD, for their generous support for the initiative.
